WILLIAM MICHAEL BARBEE is an entrepreneur, longtime mental health advocate and Producer/Writer/Director of “Beyond the Silence,” a movie about a man with schizophrenia, set to debut at the Cannes Film Festival this year. He lives with depression and bipolar disorder and is a survivor of a suicide attempt at age 20.
Barbee lives in New Jersey and serves on the Mental Health Association of Essex County Board of Directors. He was honored at the 2013 Governor’s Council on Mental Health Luncheon and was the catalyst behind a mental health awareness campaign that ran on Comcast that same year.
He is the President and CEO of Prestige Media Productions, a general partner at Airmid Foundation and Counseling Services and President of United II Care/Prestige Tours Limo and Bus Service. He makes a point of hiring people who live with mental illness.
